I spotted this typo in a camping guide at my local public library, and what they’re recommending is sure to break the backs, wallets and minds of most day hikers. Unless you’re on a stakeout or peeping, the focal length of 500mm is overkill for portraits; the average lens weighs in at about 8.5lbs and costs anywhere from $5k-$9k used / new.
I think they meant to write “50mm” ;)
