I spotted this typo in a camping guide at my local public library, and what they’re recommending is sure to break the backs, wallets and minds of most day hikers.  Unless you’re on a stakeout or peeping, the focal length of 500mm is overkill for portraits; the average lens weighs in at about 8.5lbs and costs anywhere from $5k-$9k used / new.

I think they meant to write “50mm” ;)

Let’s Shoot Film, Part I

If you’ve ever joyed in shooting film you know it’s one of kind, true, and addictive.  At the moment of conception, I move and intuit every frame to realize its highest potential and am rewarded with memories that become stories - wonderous things that can be shared.  There’s a great selection of emulsions to play with, and master photographer Ctein has provided us all with some great resources to better understand our options. Meter like a pro and you’ll make amazing photos.  My favourites from this group here are definitely Kodachrome 200 and Ektachrome 320T!
